There’s so much emphasis on getting robots to do dirty, dangerous or menial jobs (defusing bombs, vacuuming your room) that it’s nice to see at least one team of researchers is focused on robot leisure

The University of Manitoba Autonomous Agents Laboratory just taught a robot how to ski.

Jennifer the robot is already quite accomplished at games. The pint-sized humanoid competed in the Federation of International Robot Soccer Association (FIRA) Cup, where she proved her competency at a variety of challenging tasks — including playing soccer against other robots, wall-climbing, running, and maneuvering through an obstacle course.
